Signature capture product enhanced with VeriFone and Microsoft Office Integration.

Burnsville, MN – RJS Software Systems (www.rjssoftware.com), a premier provider of document management lifecycle software, announced the release of SignHere 1.3.3, a major upgrade to the company’s electronic signature capture solution. The release includes direct integration with VeriFone signature capture devices, one-click integration to Microsoft Word and Excel, and direct print-to-sign capability from any Windows application.

The new release allows SignHere to be used with VeriFone point-of-sale (POS) devices to capture and apply signatures to documents in retail and hospitality environments. The software currently works with Topaz signature pads, MS Ink, Windows tablet devices and touch screen PCs to speed up approval processes by electronically signing documents generated from any source.

The new release also includes one-click access to SignHere from Microsoft Word and Excel, and print-to-sign capability from any Windows application. The integration allows users of those programs to sign documents from within their native applications. Another new feature is SignHere’s ability to display customized HTML billboard messages on Windows tablet and touch screen PC devices. This is a particularly useful marketing tool for customers in the hospitality space, where the software is frequently used to streamline hotel check-in and key card applications.

Happy Friday! I consider it fortunate that there’s a small lake near the RJS headquarters that I can walk around if I need to clear my head, blow off some steam or just get a little exercise over lunch.

It was quite a coincidence, then, that the day I used a pedometer to track the distance around the lake (1.6 miles) and had openly wondered to a colleague why more people weren’t out for a walk, I came across an interesting Slate.com article about the crisis of pedestrianism in the United States.

The article points out the Americans walk the least of any industrialized nation. Studies show, the article said, that the average Australian takes 9,695 steps per day, the average Japanese 7,168, the average Swiss 9,650, and the average American manages only 5,117 steps. No wonder we’re getting so fat!

Our WebForms solution has been “hot, hot, hot” of late, with new prospects and current customers eager to learn how it works. What WebForms isn’t: A cure for war, pestilence and famine. What WebForms is: A great way to streamline forms processing, data collection and overall workflow by web-enabling forms, quotes, orders, HR documents and more.

WebForms plugs directly into your ERP system to give you seamless, one-time data capture and back-end integration. That’s easy to say but harder, perhaps, to conceptualize without seeing it in action. That’s why we’ve created the following tutorial videos, which walk you through designing a form in 5 easy steps.

Step 1: Introducing the Designer:

You Autocomplete Me and the Dumbing Down of the Modern Mind

Many cultural observers fear a gradual dumbing down of society as people become overly reliant on technology to think for them. You see this already with GPS devices for the geographically challenged and smart phones for those who no longer care to remember their spouse’s birthday or important telephone numbers.

This follows a general downward-spiraling trend of apathy and ignorance that can be seen more broadly in the way people seem less aware of history and its lessons, are less engaged in politics and public life, and the way science is increasingly questioned by fringe voices who appeal to an ill-informed populace who, seemingly, are too lazy to sift fact from fiction.

Whiteboard Wednesday – DeliverNow

RJS introduced DeliverNow, our automated report delivery solution, at COMMON in 2009, but it wasn’t until recently that we gave it the full product treatment with an updated user guide and overview video.

As some of you may know, DeliverNow combines the functionality found in separately sold tools like WinSpool, Batch Report Server, Email Report Server and a bunch of our converters, into a single, unified product.

The software can automatically monitor, convert and deliver reports, forms and other documents from key business systems, including ERP, SharePoint and other business applications.

DeliverNow is a particularly cool tool because it’s platform agnostic. It can take reports generated from IBM i spool files, Windows applications, or from Linux and AIX and burst and convert them into PDF, RTF, HTML, Excel and other file formats. Converted reports can be emailed, faxed or distributed to any output directory, output queue, FTP site or a document management system like WebDocs.

These videos, along with many more, can be found on our YouTube page and soon will be in our new support center website. Back in December, we gave you a preview of our new support site project. As you may recall, the goal of the project was to transform our clumsy, hard-to-navigate support wiki into a state-of-the-art support site with all the bells and whistles.

That new site, called the RJS Support Center, is still in the works but should be unveiled in early April. It will include a completely revamped interface, improved search functionality and seamless integration into the main RJS website. Not only will products be easier to search for, but more relevant results will display for things like troubleshooting articles. We will also bolster content with more videos, tutorials and other documentation, so that you can quickly find answers to all your product questions.

Here’s a preview:
